SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Damage Prevention Specialists coordinate locate requests for Idaho’s underground utility services. This process includes answering inbound calls, placing outbound calls, processing requests submitted through an online ticket entry system, and retrieving necessary information from each requestor to accurately complete the locate request.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Answer incoming calls to process underground utility locate requests.
• Enter information provided from requestors into an electronic ticket creation software.
• Process locate requests submitted through the online ticket entry system.
• Operate varied office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, copier, printer, voice recording equipment, and VOIP phone system.
• Prepare outgoing email correspondence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

SOFTWARE USED:

Exactix Damage Prevention Software, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, & Outlook, Miscellaneous programs used for specialized processes within the office.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer, VOIP Phone System, 10-Key, Voice Recording Equipment, Various Printers, Scanners and Copiers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Adequate vision and hearing. Duties require frequent phone conversations and viewing of computer screens for long periods of time.
• Ability to use a mouse and keyboard for long periods of time.

• This position involves direct communication with utility personnel, excavators, and the general public. The ability to effectively communicate with outside contacts and internal personnel in a respectful and positive manner is required.
